Brief introduction

Liu Yutian (1557-1639), named Dajin, used calligraphy. According to Jianyang Shufang’s “Zhenfang Liu Family Genealogy”, Liu Yutian is the brother of Liu Longtian, Qiao Shantang, a famous engraver in Jianyang during the Wanli period. In the twenty-ninth year of Wanli (1601), he engraved the four volumes of “New Issue of Geography Compendium” compiled by Ming Wang Chongde under the name of “Qiaoshan Shutang Liu Yutian”. The book is now in Tianyi Pavilion, Ningbo. No specific date, engraved Ming Guo Zizhang series “New Engraved Guo Qingluo Annotated Linhong Hanzha Yunlu Jiazhang” with four volumes in the first part and four volumes in the second part, which is preserved in the Library of Congress today. The name of Liu’s Qiao Shan Tang comes from his father Liu Fu Nie, whose name is Qiao Shan. “Zhenfang Liu’s Genealogy” contains: “(Twenty-second) Fuli, Fusan, Gongzi Qiaoshan. Born on February 11th in the Jiajing Renwu Year (1522), and on July 20th in the Wanli Shensi Year (1581) He died in three days, and buried the book in the shape of Shenjiang at the end of half a month in Linxi.” In the text, “Shensi year” should be “Xinsi year” by mistake. The genealogy also records Liu Yutian saying: “(The 23rd) Dajin, Shouer, Gongzi Yutian, was born on the ninth day of September in the Jiajing Dingsi year (1557), and died on the August 26th in the Chongzhen Jimao year (1639). She Yu was born on June 14th, and at the end of August 24th, she was buried in Linfeng Mountain, Chonghua, and sat in Xu Xiangchen. Chongzhen Gengchen erected a monument.
