Introduction

“Aotou Tongshu” is a tome with the most extensive collection of date selection books, with ten volumes. Among them, the most precious ones are the almost “extinct” Yuhan Dou Shou Yuanchen, Heluo Shengshu, Jinjingao, Zhujialuan Jiadixing, Tongtianqiaoma, Gaishan Zodiac, Lei Tingshengxuan, Zaoming, Bird Dun, Dunjia Qimen.

Xiong Zongli (1409–1482), courtesy name Daozong, nicknamed Daoxuan, nicknamed Wutingzi. A famous physician in the Ming Dynasty. A native of Xiongtun, Chonghuali, Jianyang, Fujian. His ancestor, Xiong Mi, built Aofeng Academy in the township, where his descendants studied, so Xiong Zongli called himself “the descendants of Aofeng”. Xiong Zongli was born in a medical family, and his ancestor Xiong Jian (Yanming) was a good doctor. Xiong Zongli had been sick since he was a child, and liked to read medical books. He studied medicine from Xiong Jian, and grew up to learn school scripts, engraved scripts, yin and yang, and medical divination from Liu Tan. Xiong Zongli inherited from his family and masters, and his academic background is quite solid. When he was in his prime, he combined his ancestral medical skills to engage in the writing, proofreading, and engraving of medical and medical books, thus becoming an engraver and medical scientist who compiled and published medical books.
