Brief introduction
Lu Yian was a master of physiognomy in the early Republic of China. He studied physiognomy with Japanese physiognomyist Skink, and later worked as a physiognomist for many celebrities in the Republic of China, including Chiang Kai-shek. Lu Yi’an’s method of observing complexion is astonishing, and his “painting” is simply breathtaking, and I believe it has been lost now. In 1971, he passed away in the United States at the age of eighty-five, and the essence of his physiognomy is contained in the existing “Fresh Physiognomy”.
